FAQ

Is Sublustrum a pure audio game?
No. Steam describes a first-person adventure with freely explorable 3D environments and sound-driven puzzles. Listening, visual clues and interacting with machinery all matter.
Are all the puzzle answers on this site independently tested?
No. Current piano and valve details are labeled community-reported and cite dated Steam replies. We do not yet have a hands-on verified full walkthrough.
Does a 2008 walkthrough solve the remake?
Not reliably. The official FAQ describes reworked puzzle details and new 3D exploration. An old answer needs current-build evidence before reuse.

Which puzzle are you trying to solve?

This is an index for the October 2026 Chapter One playtest, not a list of invented full-game solutions. It groups help by the decision a player needs to make. If you have not installed the test yet, begin with the playtest access guide.

Your problem Best next page Evidence available
You cannot interpret the instrument sliders Piano and chamber sliders October 12 community-reported setting; no hands-on verification
You have three cooling wheels and cannot find another Missing fourth valve Corrected apartment location and scanner advice in October replies
The cooling machine still fails after setting its wheels Cooling system help Reported behavior and failed-guess warning; no confirmed final sequence

Read the location hint before opening a full setting if you want fewer spoilers. We keep access instructions, exact-answer reports and edition history on separate pages so you can get help without reading the whole story.

How does sound fit the puzzles?

The official Steam description identifies listening and tuning as parts of the design. That does not mean every obstacle reduces to a numerical code, or that a visual detail can be ignored. A mechanism may require you to locate a part before its settings matter.

For a sound sequence, write down its order and compare one control at a time. Where a community hint says “left to right” or counts dots from the bottom, preserve that convention; reversing it changes the answer. This method helps keep your notes reproducible without assuming undocumented rules about the game.

If you find sound difficult to distinguish, check the audio options exposed by the installed build. Headphones are suggested in the linked piano discussion; they are advice from a player, not a required peripheral or a promise that the puzzle becomes accessible for every listener.

A cooling mechanism has four handwheels, connecting pipes and gauges in a dark brick-walled room.

Official image of machinery. It does not establish the correct wheel positions or which controls the test currently enables.

How do you tell a solution from a guess?

A report that explicitly says a setting failed is evidence against presenting it as a successful solution. The older cooling discussion is an example: its proposed number sequence is the player’s question, not the developer’s answer. Our cooling page links that context instead of repeating it as a code to enter.

Similarly, two reports agreeing about an item’s location are useful, but still different from a recorded successful pickup in the current build. Exact answers on this site carry an evidence label. Official facts describe the published game; community reports describe another player’s experience; hands-on evidence would show the action and its result. We do not silently promote one into another.

Why are old videos sometimes misleading?

Searching “Sublustrum walkthrough” also returns footage of the 2008 original. The remake is freely explorable in 3D and the developers describe revised puzzles. Compare the edition, interface and publication date before copying a sequence. Our Outcry history page explains the distinction.

For dates and platform announcements use the release tracker. For technical compatibility use the PC requirements. Neither page substitutes for a puzzle solution, and neither claims the unreleased game has been fully played.
